Kat Bellamano

Kat has been working with people in conflict for 17 years. She has a diverse practice as a dispute resolution professional and registered social worker, in private practice. Kat provides training, parenting coordination, mediation, arbitration, med-arb, circles, child interviewing, restorative justice, organizational development, coaching and facilitation; always with an emphasis on relationship building and working across differences. Her main area of focus is working with families and groups with complex circumstances such as high conflict, trauma or mental health challenges, addiction, involvement with the legal system or intercultural issues. She also provides the full range of her services by distance. She designs and provides training on mediation and conflict resolution skills, trauma informed practice, sexualized violence prevention, and family violence screening.

She is a Chartered Arbitrator and Mediator certified by ADR Canada, a Comprehensive Family Mediator certified by Family Mediation Canada, is on the rosters of Mediate BC, the BC Hear the Child, and the BC Parenting Coordinator Roster Society. She has a Bachelor of Social Work and is currently finishing a Master of Social Work with a Clinical Specialization. Kat received her Certificate in Conflict Analysis and Management and her Certificate in Family Mediation from The Institute of Conflict Analysis and Management with an emphasis on Conflict in Organizations and Group Facilitation Skills. She received her Certificate in Arbitration from the ADRBC (formerly BCAMI). She is a former member of the Board of Directors of ADRBC and Family Mediation Canada and is the President of the BC Parenting Coordinators Roster Society and Vice-President of the University of Victoria Alumni Association.

COVID 19 Safe Operating Protocols

As per the guidelines provided by the Public Health Authority, the BC College of Social Workers and WorkSafe BC, here is the plan for Ambitus Consulting to continue to provide services:

  • Where possible, virtual or telehealth services will be provided. In-person services will only be used if necessary and safe.
  • All clients will be asked to complete additional consent forms, Technology Consent, and/or In-person Meeting Consent, depending on the kind of services you will receive.
  • When meeting in-person, outdoor meetings will be the first choice whenever reasonable and appropriate.
  • Joint or group meetings will only be held in-person if appropriate safety measures can be taken. These will include:
    • Meeting outdoors; or
    • Meeting indoors, including only members of the same “bubble”; or
    • Being able to maintain 2 metres/6 feet between all attendees; or
    • Being able to maintain at least 2 metres/6 feet between the client group and me.
  • Clients attending in-person are asked to wait in their vehicle or in an outdoor area away from other people until immediately before their meeting.
  • In-person appointment times will be staggered to allow for cleaning and social distancing.
  • Hand sanitizer will be provided at entrance door.
  • Late cancellation fees will be waived for anyone experiencing cold or flu-like symptoms, personally or in their household.
  • Clients attending in-person meetings will be asked COVID screening questions.
  • In-person clients are asked to wear masks and to bring their own pens, paper, beverages, facial tissue, etc. and to take everything with them when they leave or discard in the garbage by the door.
  • Please wash your hands before attending in-person and avoid touching your face during meetings when possible. Cover your mouth and nose when sneezing
  • Please make payment by e-transfer, credit card over the phone or cheque by mail.
